Southern Galilee

I am taking my wife, her sister and her sister's family on a short weekend visit to the Galilee. We got here late in the afternoon on Friday and this is a look at the southern Galilee as the sun was beginning to go down. We are looking toward the east and the Golan Heights are in the distance as well as the valley for the Yarmuk and a bit of the nation of Jordan as well.

HappySandy and the tour group

My wife's sister joined me for a couple of days of touring. I told them all that I would post a picture of the group here so here it is.

I have had many Evangelical tourists who complained about the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. They say, "It looks so gaudy and almost seems pagan." As you can see, there are hundreds of decorations that have been festooned around the tomb since the church was built, nearly 1,500 years ago. It is really up to each person to decide for themselves though if this is done with a pure heart. I will say only that I feel much more comfortable almost anywhere else. That said, I don't think Jesus was thinking so much of the decor when they drove the nails into his hands and feet. If this place makes you cringe, perhaps that is not such a bad thing.

I just looked out the window to find that it is snowing in Jerusalem! Can you see those little specks? I'll try to get more pics later if there is any accumulation.
