Pretty Bird

I was sitting in the garden this afternoon when I heard a bird nearby. When I looked up, I saw this beautiful bird. It is called a lorikeet.

I saw a kangaroo hopping for the first time in person this afternoon. I hope this 3 second video works.

Visiting Australia

Becky and I have gone off on another journey. This time we are starting in Australia. It was quite a journey to get here. We left from Israel and flew to London to start the trip. From London the second flight was 11 1/2 hours to Singapore where we had a 3 hour stop. Frankly, I think Singapore deserves more than a stop over. Not this time though. Then another 7 1/2 hour flight to Brisbane. That's a total of 24 hours in the air plus stopovers. Needless to say, we arrived in a state of near exhaustion. Fortunately, I've slept since then.
Yesterday our host took us for a cup of coffee on the beach. It's Winter here, you know. The beach in the middle of winter can be wonderful and since we are a bit further north, the weather was fine. There were folks swimming and surfing as well as sunning themselves on the warm sand. Then across the water we saw a lighthouse which we visited later in the day.

Did I mention that the coffee was Starbucks?
