The lambs

New Zealand seems to have some sheep. You could guess this...Sheep sometimes produce new sheep. Fairly often it turns out in a nations which has ten times as many sheep as people. The young ones are undeniably cute. Thus, it became a mission, of sorts, to find a way for Becky to hold a lamb. We succeeded this morning!

The momma sheep was not to upset when lamby went to talk to strangers and the lamb seems to have decided she was fond of Becky.

This afternoon it is time for the national Board of Bridges for Peace to have their annual board meeting. So we got into yet another van and traveled to a farm where the members had agreed to meet. As we approached the entrance the driver stopped the car and pointed out the window at a ewe with twin lambs. He said, when I left here a couple of hours ago, those hadn't been born yet. You can't see the shaky knees but these two are only about three hours old.

Unlikely friends

I've been fascinated by the different flora and fauna of Australia and now New Zealand. One tree that I really like is the Cabbage tree. I don't know the scientific name for the tree but it looks sort of like stalks of celery. They grow to be quite tall too. Here you can see some growing beside a grove of olives.

We were invited to stay at a beautiful home near Hamilton, New Zealand a couple of nights ago. We arrived late at night after a long drive and a meeting with combined groups of Israel supporters. Imagine our delight to see a very unlikely pair of friends near the drive as we entered the property. They told me they had arrived as friends and don't like to be separated by more than a few meters.

And now, New Zealand...

We are traveling in New Zealand this week. Gary, our South African young adult coordinator, found a King Size crunchie bar this afternoon. He was (and still is) thrilled. He claims he is saving it for an emergency which he predicts may occur tomorrow morning.

As we traveled we noticed a small stream running down the side of the mountain so we stopped and went for a short adventure. We climbed the slippery rocks and nearly fell into the water but it was beautiful.

We ended the day at a guest house that it supposed to look like a castle. The rooms are nice and the food is extra special but the view is unbelievable.
