Anzacs in Beer Sheva

It was another wonderful day with the Australians. We started out by going to a ceremony to honor the memory of the soldiers of the Australian Light Horse Brigades. We met the commander right away and he was delighted to have his picture with Keith.

The unit formed up outside a short while later and marched of to mount up. They came riding down a main street in Beer Sheva a short while later to lead us to the Cemetery.

Later we went out into the Wadi where the charge that liberated the City from the Turks was re-enacted.

After the ceremony we gathered as many of us as we could find for a group photo. The first of many, I am sure.

The day was not yet over either. We got back on our large painted horse and all 32 of us rode together to the back side of Masada where we ended the day in a Bedouin tent.

A tour group from Australia

I'll be touring with a group from Australia for the next week and we decided it would be nice to post a few pictures from each day's touring. So...

They arrived at an hour when almost all civilized people are sleeping. The plane landed at 4:40 AM. There really should be a law against that! Of course, the tour guide (Me) was there before the flight landed and waiting to whisk them off to exciting destinations all over Israel.

Whisk! In a nice new coach. I am not sure you can see the looks of appreciation on their faces. They were delighted to be seated again, I am sure.

The first stop of the tour is a site named, Naot Kedumin. They have trees, fruits, crops and farming implements that are modeled after the text of the Bible. In one scene we see Keith sitting in a Sycamore tree, pretending to be a sinner waiting for the Messiah.

Later we went to an Olive press where we learned about crushing the olives to make oil.

Galilee vacation

Becky and I needed a break. It's not that we haven't gone to wonderful and exciting places, we've done a lot of that. What we needed was a week where there were no decisions to be made and not plan to follow. No stress. Somebody donated a week at the Club Hotel in Tiberius and I thought that sounded just fine.
Of course, just sitting in a hotel can get real old real fast. So, I said one morning, "Let's go see if we can find a different place to ride quads." Another day I said, "Let's see if we can find a Phoenician ship I read about somewhere." Still another day I said, "I heard there was some excavation at Susita but I've never been there."
We saw the most wonderful sunset on top of Susita.

Still another day, I said, "Let's go ride in those rubber rafts that sort of look like canoes on the Jordan."
As if that wasn't enough, we also visited Monfort castle and Dor beach. Sure, no plan but we didn't get to bored either.

I got my scooter today

I got my scooter today. That is I brought it home. I actually bought it a couple weeks ago but I waited to bring it home until I had proper insurance. It was made by Sang Yong Motors so it says, "SYM" on the front. It is a model HD200 and it has less than 6,000 kilometers on the odometer.
